A True Love Story
Raising three little boys, under six years old doesn’t make life so complicated, everything is relatively simple compared to what people might think! Let’s just say, the things you are able to enjoy are…maybe…..three at the most??
Certainly not sleep, that comes out of the picture. Personally I don’t smoke, that comes out too! Private moments with your partner……mmmmm…..with much difficulty and under certain circumstances, when, lets say, Venus is aligned with Mars and the sun is in total eclipse!
So, what’s left? Food!! Because you can keep stuffing rubbish non-stop into your mouth even when you’re using one hand while the other is occupied doing a million different things! Stirring food in the pot, pulling up a child’s panties, joining pieces of a puzzle, separating two children who are biting each other, etc. You can do this, you are allowed to end up 538 pounds in a few months because it’s a great pleasure….perhaps the only pleasure you can get during this difficult time of your life!
The second thing I can think of that has become a kind of obsession to me is coffee! Ah, coffee!! I am almost in love with it! I owe my husband a sincere apology, “at this point he’s getting the better of you sweetie”!
This morning, just before the alarm clock went off, I felt something tickling my nose, it was my kid’s nose!!! He had his head stuck οn mine and stared as if he was wondering what was inside. After my heart went back into place, the morning marathon began just like every other morning!!! The moment I get in the car though, it’s like the “I want coffee” switch goes on. I fantasize about it, I want it warm and I want it right this instant! My desire is escalating along the way so, when I finally reach the office, I feel like I could bite anyone who dares to talk to me before I take a few sips of this divine nectar!!!
Then comes the relaxed guy, the athletic-vegetarian-alternative-ecologist and who knows what else- colleague and gives you a lecture about how it’s not good for your health to drink coffee, that this or that research has shown that the body wakes up just as well in the morning when having green tea….orange juice…..water with lemon…… and you just want to bang him over the head with the coffee mug!
“Did you wake up with an eye attached to yours? Did you get up in the night 523 times? Did you walk 756 miles in the morning into the house to get everyone ready and another 267 miles by car to get them where they needed to be? Probably not! So turn around, walk out the door and go get me my coffee!!!”
How Necessary it is for Most of Us
After having shared my personal experience and expressed my love for coffee, I realize that there must be something truly magical about the relationship between moms and their beloved cup of coffee, or is it just me? With each sip, a mom gains the strength to conquer the chaos that lies ahead and let’s not forget the sacred ritual of “coffee time”. It’s a time when the world can wait and the only thing that matters is that first sip of liquid gold. No interruptions allowed unless it’s an emergency (like running out of creamer).
But perhaps the truest argument for the fact that moms love coffee is their ability to function (and even thrive) on minimal sleep thanks to this faithful companion. Who needs eight hours of sleep when you have caffeine coursing through your veins?
So here’s to all the coffee-loving moms out there – the unsung heroes of early mornings, late nights, and everything in between. May our coffee always be strong enough to tackle whatever life throws our way and enjoy it deeply. We’re brew-tiful! ☕️❤️
