my-life-during-the-week
  • Monday
  • 7:00 – Jump out of bead dreadfully, get my three boys up, prepare their lunch boxes quickly, get dressed and take off to school.
  • 8:00 – arriving at the office feeling tired already thinking how much I hate Mondays. Drink a gallon of coffee before I am able to relate to other adult people.
  • 16:00 – I leave the office, running to the car because I have to pick the boys up from three different directions in 3,6 seconds.
  • 17:00 – Arrive at home, unpack the 14 bags I am currying and start settling things around.
  • 18:00 – My boys are shouting because they need help with their homework….I help all three of them at the same time or at least I try.
  • 19:00 – My boys are shouting (again) because they are hungry. Going to the kitchen, wondering what the hell should I cook that would satisfy everyone’s different tastes and needs. It’s a big challenge and I deal with it three times a day.
  • 20:00 – Dinner is ready and served!
  • 20:30 – Someone has to clean now….and that would be me!
  • 21:00 – It’s bed time, boys wash their teeth, wear pjs and give me a kiss goodnight.
  • 21:30 – I pour a glass of wine and sit on a chair for the first time that day. Realize how important and beautiful little things are….like sitting on a chair, drinking a glass of wine, being in a quiet house, the stars, the moon…..
  • 22:00 – My husband returns from work all anxious to hear about our day and ready to intellect with me. But I am……. already dreaming. Good night!
  • Tuesday“OMG, I have to do this all over again!” Yes, and today I have to go shopping after work with the kids because the fridge is empty. So, today’s scheduling hours will move an hour later than usual. Damn it!
  • Wednesday
  • 7:00 – Rerun….wake up, getting dressed, feeding, preparing, whining, dropping off etc
  • 8:00 – Office, coffee, start to intellect! Ok, I got this!
  • 16:00 – Pick up and get back home
  • 17: 00 – Music lesson and soccer game…getting in and out of the car in light speed.
  • 19:00 – Arrive at home, prepare a quick and easy meal.
  • 21:00 – Bed time
  • 22:00 – Finally sitting, get something to eat and start reading. I have my finals at the university next week. I am fully charged and I am going to read for a few hours.
  • 22:30 – (snoring……!)
  • ThursdayI am so tired, I have to do a million things today and I am only getting started. WAKE UUUUUUP!! I don’t think I’ll manage to stay calm today. At least Friday is near…I have hope! (Repeating the whole program until the snoring part…)
  • Friday
  • 7:00 – “Thank God it’s Friday! I manage to get up in a good mood but my boys don’t! The entire week’s exhaustion is accumulated so the whining has reached a higher level….I end up forcing them out of bed and screaming.
  • 8:20 – Of course I am late for work, but it’s ok, I keep reminding myself…It’s Friday!!
  • 16:00 – I am overwhelmed….I am leaving the office knowing I won’t be coming back next morning. I have a class though at the university during the weekend but most of the times I am glad to be there because it’s MY TIME. I only get to mess with myself when I am there and that’s awesome.
  • 21: 00 – Return from the university, the boys are with their father eating junk food and watching a movie. I pour a glass of whine and sit with them, enjoy the rest of the evening with my kids and husband….after all, it is Friday!
  • 23:00 – Bed time for everyone. We give a kiss goodnight to each other and get to bed tired but satisfied. It was a good day!
  • Sunday – We don’t have an alarm set and that’s a big deal. We wake up naturally and calm, eat breakfast all together and relax a bit until we start the day…Thank God my boys are old enough to oversleep during the weekend.
  • 10:00- I have a class at the university and I am really happy about it. I grab a cup of coffee with my fellow students at the school’s cafeteria before class and get my mind of things for a few hours. We talk and become teenagers for a while, who doesn’t need that anyway?
  • 14:00 – Return home, the boys are with their father, they spent the morning together and that is great, both parties need it because during the week they don’t get to spend much time together. It’s their quality time and mine too.
  • 17:00 – We usually are heading to a kid’s party.
  • 20:00 – Return home, order a pizza (I prefer not to cook, it’s my day off kitchen on Saturday).
  • 22:00 – It’s bed time for the kids, kiss goodnight…sweet dreams!
  • 22:30 – Now it’s our own time. Even though we can’t go out and stayed home, the kids are sleeping and we can have a night to ourselves. Have a drink, put on some music perhaps dance a little, talk about our week, laugh and cuddle. We have to keep in mind that whatever the circumstances we are capable of creating a special moment and enjoy it with our partner in crime. The rest of the night is up to us…..
  • Sunday
  • 09:00 – The boys are up and so is our cat that stands on our heads. We are up but ready to enjoy the rest of the day.
  • 10:00 – having a full breakfast, pancakes and fresh juice.
  • 12:00 – go out for a walk and enjoy the beautiful day and our time together.
  • 15:00 – get back, kids do their homework and play for the rest of the day. I am preparing everything for the week ahead but at least I had a relaxed and joyful weekend because I have had time for myself, time with my kids and with my husband.

My batteries are charged and I have been pretty satisfied because I had the opportunity to do the things that made me happy given the circumstances. Next weekend maybe I will set things differently, maybe even manage to leave the kids and get a night out with my husband and friends but even so, I am happy! We all have to listen to our mind, our body and our feelings and respond to it. Only then we stand a chance of remaining calm and happy inside and so will our loved ones. Try it!
